Can Magneto Control Vibranium?

Magneto is known as the master of magnetism and is one of the most powerful mutants in the Marvel Comics world. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it has been established that one of the most powerful metals on Earth is Vibranium. Well, how would that work out?

What is Vibranium?

Vibranium was introduced in 1966 with the extraordinary ability to absorb, store, and release large amounts of kinetic energy. It is mined only in the fictional African nation of Wakanda and has become associated with the hero Black Panther, who wears a suit of vibranium, and with Captain America, who has a vibranium colonizer shield.

In many ways, it seems like on paper anyway, it should be easy for Magento to cut through.

In the comics, we’ve seen Magneto taking control of Captain America’s shield and even throw back Thor’s hammer because it was made of metal.

In comparison, the purity of the vibranum in Wakanda was been shown to stop Magento from being able to manipulate the iron in T’Challa’s blood.

Magento may be the master of Magentisim, but even he must humble himself before Wakandan technology.

It has always been interesting to see how the comics have been able to keep up with the changing times when it comes to the powers of mutants. Much like Storm, the character of Magento is one who has only become more powerful as we get more and more technologically driven.

If and when Magento comes into the MCU it will be intriguing to see how they choose to depict his powers in contrast to what we have so far.
