Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova in Black Widow

A New Black Widow Peak Gives Us More Yelena!

I LOVE YELENA BELOVA!

After all this time, we are actually gearing up to see Black Widow. For real this time. No more delays or changes in release dates. We have a little over a month before we’ll be back in theaters and seeing what Natasha Romanoff has in store for us all.

Getting to see the dynamic between Yelena and Natasha is, for me, the most exciting part of Black Widow right now. We’ve been waiting for this movie for so long, and while I’m excited to see Nat finally have her moment, I’m very interested in the relationship that she has with Yelena and how the two grew up together, and how Yelena seems to have held Nat on a pedestal, even after all these years.

In a new special look at the upcoming movie for Natasha Romanoff, we get to see a bit more of Nat’s oath to stop “running” from her past and embracing the family she once had before becoming a Black Widow. Finally hitting our screens this July 9th, Black Widow is truly a long time coming.

What I love about this special look is the ease Yelena and Natasha have with each other. Even when they’re in the middle of a blowout or getting shot at, the two have this wonderful little banter back and forth and are bickering like sisters. It’s a nice side to Nat that we haven’t seen before, and it’s a fun introduction to Yelena Belova.

Nat always had a one-liner for the men of the Avengers, but this is different. This is a familiarity and a love that comes with family, whether it be your blood relatives or the family you find for yourself, and getting to see Natasha and Yelena have this moment and drink together, fight together, and even confront one another is a big draw to this movie for me.

Natasha Romanoff deserved her time back after her introduction during Iron Man 2. She deserved her own movie time and time again, and now that we’ve waited over ten years and lived through an entire pandemic just to see it, I can’t wait to finally see what Black Widow has in store for us.

We already know what happens to Natasha Romanoff but the good thing is that we have quite a lot of “information” that Yelena Belova is going to be in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so getting to meet her through the eyes of her sister is going to be special and after all this time, we deserve to have a little bit of excitement for Black Widow, right?
