Did you walk away from Black Panther wishing with all your heart that Wakanda was real? So did the SNL cast, as a promotion clip for the latest show shows Kate McKinnon, Alex Moffat and Kenan Thompson trying (unsuccessfully) to shake down the Black Panther for some of that precious Vibranium. Don’t act like you wouldn’t do the same.
Boseman doesn’t give it up, because T’Challa is a capable politician who would never give himself away like that. “Oh, you know what? I didn’t wanna tell them, but maybe I did bring a little stash of vibranium. I can’t seem to find it because — we made it up for the movie!” he says in frustration (but we know the truth). SNL already did a Black Panther sketch with Sterling K. Brown, but we can probably expect plenty more T’Challa jokes on Saturday.
In another promotional clip with Cardi B, who is the musical guest, Leslie Jones is appropriately excited to have both of them on the show. There’s some flirting between Boseman and Cardi B (!!!), who calls him by his superhero name. “My name is Chadwick,” he replies. “Your name is whatever she calls you!” says Jones.
