Screengrab of Robin Wright as Claire Underwood in the teaser for "House of Cards" Season 6

“We’re Just Getting Started”: Netflix Teases Us With President Robin Wright in This House of Cards Preview

[Warning: Spoilers for the British version of House of Cards]

Netflix has posted a teaser for the sixth and final season of House of Cards, and in the ad, we get to see Robin Wright in the Oval Office. “We’re just getting started,” she declares, before the trailer cuts to a title card: “Hail to the Chief.” Now, this might not mean we actually get a President Claire Underwood, but it’s a pretty great image either way.

Season Six of House of Cards got off to a terrible start when lead actor Kevin Spacey was accused of sexual harassment and misconduct by multiple men, including eight employees who worked on House of Cards. Netflix eventually cut ties with Spacey, and they rewrote the final season to focus on Robin Wright’s character, Claire Underwood. They’ve also hired some new cast members for the season, including Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear as a brother and sister.

As our own Teresa Jusino noted, the Netflix show might be going in the same direction as its source material. SPOILERS AHOY! In “The Final Cut,” the third installment of the British series, Frank’s wife arranges for his assassination in order to preserve his reputation (and their finances). Claire could very well pull a similar ploy at the start of Season Six, leaving her free to seize power for herself. Given that Wright had to fight for equal pay on the show in earlier seasons, it feels particularly fitting that she gets to take Spacey’s place at the center of the show in its finale.

This is quite a short teaser, so it doesn’t tell us a whole lot about the upcoming season, but I personally got pretty darn amped just seeing Wright behind that desk. Plus, “We’re just getting started” is just the perfect anthem for the #MeToo movement. Kevin Spacey is gone from House of Cards and the Weinstein Company has been sold to a female-led investor group, but there are plenty of alleged predators who are still active in the industry. We are indeed just getting started.
