  • NASA is currently searching for someone to defend the planet against extraterrestrial threats. No, it’s not quite as glamorous as an action movie; they’re mostly looking for someone to shape policy around extraterrestrial contact and make sure astronauts are properly disinfected upon return from outer space. The archbishop of a Catholic church in Ottowa earned the ire of his congregation when he allowed street performers La Machine to walk their large animatronic spider across a cathedral. Dang. (via Boing Boing)

  • Disney’s upcoming Christopher Robin film just cast Hayley Atwell as Christopher Robin’s wife. Ewan McGregor will be playing the titular character, and suddenly all my Star Wars/Captain America crossover fanfic feels so, so vindicated. (via Inside The Magic)
  • Judith Jones, legendary editor behind The Diary of Anne Frank and Mastering the Art of French Cooking has passed away. She was 93. (via NPR)
