Hey, friends! We had a publishing error last night, so here’s yesterday’s edition of Things We Saw Today!
Mylo the Cat, who previously went viral with a couple of other past hip-hop/Sesame Street mashups, has done it again. This time, they combined the children’s show with Beastie Boys’ delightfully campy and extremely classic music video, “Sabotage.” I don’t think I’ve ever seen Muppets go this hard on anything. - After being dumped by her boyfriend, one high schooler photoshopped Ryan Reynolds into her prom photos. Reynolds responded, of course, by saying that she should ‘shop him over her ex’s head in her yearbook, too. Nice. (via The Daily Dot)
- Gavin Russom, of the legendary music group LCD Soundsystem, just came out as a transgender woman. In an interview with Pitchfork, she spoke about what it’s been like coming out and said, “Over the last year and a half, I went from my trans identity being something I was in touch with and worked through in one way or another, to suddenly this shift where it’s on the front burner. Now it’s time to become a whole person.” Cheers, Russom! And congrats.
Overwatch continues its excellent streak of introducing awesome characters. They’ve just added Doomfist, the leader of the villainous group Talon, and arch enemy to just about everyone on the Overwatch crew. The anime introduction video above is fantastic, even though I’m still really messed up over how he totally wrecks Tracer when he rips off her time backpack and incredibly tragic things ensue. (But it’s okay, because it’s set in the past … I think. I hope.)
- Get a big ol’ grain of salt ready for this one, loves: the shortlist for who might play Batgirl in the upcoming DC film has allegedly been leaked. It comes by way of Reddit (big red flag there), and names Elle Fanning, Olivia Cooke, Bella Thorne, Katherine Langford, Margaret Qualley, Jane Levy, Emma Roberts, Haley Lu Richardson, and Naomi Scott. Note that only two of these actresses are women of color. Sigh. (via Elle)
- The organizers behind the Women’s March are now planning another major action: they’re putting together a march against the NRA, who, if you’ll remember, released an incredibly chilling video not too long ago. (via The Slot)
