Last Wednesday, a 14-year-old dog fell into a hole in ice at White Lake. Don’t worry though, he’s ok!
Thankfully, local residents and the White Lake Fire Authority pulled through and worked together to bring him safely ashore. You can watch the rescue in the above video courtesy of Roger D. Squiers, or check out more photos on their Facebook page. It was the 1000th alarm of 2016 for the Fire Authority, and in a status they discussed the rescue to thank those on the scene:
Thank you to the residents on shore, Muskegon County Animal Control Officer and Whitehall Police Chief Squiers for the assistance on this alarm. Most importantly, thank you to the Department staff that responded to this alarm making for a successful outcome. Captain McCarthy, Lieutenant Holman, Firefighter Achterhoff, Firefighter Tanis and Probationary Firefighter Hentschel without your response this would have been a very different situation. Great job by all!!!!
Lana Carson, director of Pound Buddies where the dog was taken shortly after, says that the owner was found and is “very happy” their dog is safe. They plan to take him to a private vet for follow-up care. What a way to end the year–great job White Lake!
