In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past year or so, Gilmore Girls will be returning to Netflix on Friday–a.k.a. the day after U.S. Thanksgiving, when we’re all stuffed full with leftovers. (I think Lorelai and Rory would approve.)
The revival will consist of four, 90-minute-long episodes (basically like mini-movies) and if you’re in search of early reviews to assuage your fears about whether or not, you’re in luck because Entertainment Weekly has compiled some of them into a helpful post. The good news is: mostly positive! General consensus seems to be that this revival will be a delight to the diehard GG fans (which, duh).
Netflix snuck out a second trailer for all of us to analyze and deconstruct, and there are a couple of short scenes that reveal exciting developments from the revival. Paris and Rory at Chilton together! Luke working part-time as a lifeguard! Rory and Lorelai riding in the back of Luke’s truck! (Okay, that last one wasn’t a secret before, but I only just noticed who’s driving after this, the tenth time I’ve watched it.)
There also appears to be a brief shot of dancers in Miss Patty’s studio–could it be a reference to the short-lived, Amy Sherman-Palladino-helmed Bunheads? Technically, they can’t be a part of the same universe since Kelly Bishop starred in both series as different characters, but maybe it’s at least a subtle nod to fans.
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life debuts on Netflix on Friday, November 25th, and if you are going to be binge-watching it all at once, the cast has one small request for you:
