Obi-Wan Gets the Star Wars Story Treatment in Fan Trailer

This clever trailer from Rich Williamson was cut together using soundbites, music, and a few spliced together visuals, all imagining what a real trailer for an Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Wars Story might look like.

We’ve got two Star Wars Story movies coming up in the future: Rogue One and the one based on Han Solo. There’s also rumored third movie about the notorious bounty hunter Boba Fett supposedly in the works. But after these films, what character or group comes next? If this fan-made trailer is any indication of who might do well to have their own movie, then perhaps the answer to that question is none other than Old Ben himself: Obi-Wan Kenobi.

This clever trailer from Rich Williamson was cut together using soundbites, music, and a few spliced together visuals, all imagining what a real trailer for an Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Wars Story might look like. What’s nice is that they stuck with Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan by using scenes from Last Days in the Desert, a film in which McGregor played Jesus (as in Christ), so he’s definitely got that desert look down. The trailer even finds a way of teasing romantic subplots and supporting characters by using more scenes from that movie, and they honestly feel right at home here.

Okay, admittedly, the Qui-Gon overlay is a bit wonky, especially given the fact that the music (and the trailer itself) was building to a big emotional climax, and then… that. It’s a nitpick at best, because honestly the rest of the trailer was pretty excellently put together. Kudos to you, Williamson. Well done, indeed.
