Tim Curry’s Coming Back to Rocky Horror Picture Show, But Not as Dr. Frank N. Furter

Recommended Videos

Dearest fave Tim Curry will be returning to Rocky Horror Picture Show for the FOX reboot that’s currently in development. While we would all love to see him return to his role as Dr. Frank N. Furter, he can’t because as you might remember, Laverne Cox has graciously taken on that part. Curry will be playing the criminologist narrator (portrayed by Charles Gray in the cult classic film).

The announcement of the reboot has been met with very disparate, polarized opinions, and for a lot of very valid reasons. The fandom–which is really not a strong enough word to describe the group that’s popped up around RHPS–is fiercely protective of the movie and its subversive themes that harp on sexuality and gender. Folks have been content to let the movie remain in its cult status, but with this high-profile reboot starring some equally high profile stars, it looks like RHPS might be looking at a comeback in popularity.

What’s clear is that no matter how you slice it, RHPS is something that a lot of people feel passionately about one way or another. For fans of the movie–myself included–the announcement of Curry’s inclusion is a good thing, to be sure. It’s like a blessing or a passing of the torch from one of the people who really made the movie the icon that it is today.

What do you think? Are you glad Curry will be joining the project?
