The Flash Solo Film Wants Phil Lord and Chris Miller; Furious 7‘s James Wan May Direct The Rock Again in Shazam

The Flash and the Furious.

Take these rumors with a grain of salt the size of The Rock’s neck, but according to Latino Review and The Wrap, Warner Bros. is eyeing LEGO Movie directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller for their upcoming standalone The Flash film. In other fast news, Furious 7 director James Wan, like any other human being with a pulse, really, really wants to hang out with The Rock again. We feel you, sir.

ComicsAlliance reports that Lord and Miller (who are already working on the Batman-centric LEGO Movie spinoff) are being sought after to direct The Flash, but may instead wind up on the dudebusters movie currently being developed for Sony by the Russo brothers:

Sony still reportedly wants Lord and Miller to helm a Ghostbusters film after the duo passed on Dan Aykroyd’s Ghostbusters 3. Lord and Miller have worked with both Pratt and Tatum, so having them direct the second film in the new Ghostbusters franchise would make sense.

Although it would be awesome to see a Russo Brothers/Phil Lord and Chris Miller team up, I’d way rather have Lord and Miller on The Flash; Barry seems like the ideal DC character for their aesthetic, and in all honesty I’d rather not see great directors wasting their time on a movie essentially created to sop up fanboy tears.

In other rumored developments, The Conjuring and Furious 7 director James Wan recently spoke to ComicBook.com about the possibility of directing Shazam, saying

[…] There’s lots of talks about lots of things so who knows what is true […] Well, put it this way: I freakin’ love Dwayne. He’s an awesome guy and I would love to work with him again in a heartbeat. I know Dwayne wants to find something for me and him to do again in the future.

If nothing else, I guess there’s always the inevitable San Andreas 2: Rock Bottom. What do you think about these possible developments, gang?
