Tell 10-12 year old you to start getting excited! The first title to be released as part of Marvel Comics’ upcoming Secret Wars event is X-Men ’92, a comic based on the awesome 90s X-Men animated series. EEK! I mean, look at that awesome cover image above! I’m so excited, I need to listen to the theme song:

X-Men ’92 will be released through Marvel’s digital Infinite Comics imprint in May (and in print in June), with a creative team of Chris Sims and Chad Bowers on writing duties and Scott Koblish on art. Marvel Editor-in-Chief, Axel Alonso, has this to say about the launch:
For many of us, animated series based on the Marvel characters, with their exciting and accessible stories, provided a fresh new entry point for a new generation of Marvel fans. Now, through the magic of our digital-only Infinite Comic format, the new Secret Wars digital-exclusive X-Men ’92 series will recapture the unique energy of the animated storytelling and continue to grow the legion of Marvel fans.
Seriously, I didn’t start reading comics until about 2003-04. My only exposure to the world of superheroes as a kid was through films and shows like this, and I remember X-Men being one of the coolest shows ever. Growing up in a world where girls weren’t necessarily handed comics, the fact that shows and films like this existed whet my palate enough that I decided to try reading comics as an adult – and I haven’t looked back since!
So I’m thrilled to see that this is happening. May can’t get here fast enough!
