The Mary Sue is looking for contributors, and you could be our next rad writer! Yes, you!

Though The Mary Sue’s contributor form is always open, we are specifically looking for writers who can provide us with science and technology coverage. Particularly, we’d like applications from people who are interested in writing stories on women in STEM, be they reports, commentary, or creative pieces. Though your pitches don’t have to be focused on women in STEM, those usually go over well.

We want stories about science, technology, engineering, math, and space that are relatable and enjoyable for a wide audience. Some great examples of past contributor pieces focusing on women in STEM include this article about the history of female HAM radio operators, or this essay about one woman’s experience as an audio engineer.

If you have an excellent idea, please head over to our Contributors page and apply via the form. In order to be considered, you must include:

  • Your name and e-mail.
  • A link to your best online writing sample (no fiction, please).
  • One or more pitches! Be specific about your idea and what form the post would take.

And please be patient! We get lots of applications, but we promise we will get back to you if interested. If you have any questions, please send an e-mail to [email protected].

Sam Maggs is a writer and televisioner, currently hailing from the Kingdom of the North (Toronto). Her first book, THE FANGIRL'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY will be out soon from Quirk Books. Sam’s parents saw Star Wars: A New Hope 24 times when it first came out, so none of this is really her fault.
