We know essentially nothing about the Star Wars stand-alone films, except that the first two are being directed by Gareth Edwards and Josh Trank, respectively. But word on the Death Star is that one of the two films is going to focus on Obi-Wan Kenobi’s origin story. Here’s what “a source” has to say over at Making Star Wars (the folks who brought us that amazing look at Daisy Ridley’s potential costume):

I’ve heard from quite a few people now that an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie is in the works. For the spin-off movies they were initially going to stay away from any Jedi or Sith characters. But I’m hearing now that because of the popularity of Obi-Wan (fans recently voting for him on the official website etc) that an art team is now working with a writer on concepts for an Obi-Wan movie.

If this were to happen, would they bring Ewan McGregor back for the role? Or cast someone even younger to make it a “true” origin? Or is this just entirely nonsense?

Meanwhile, in Doctor Who news, rumors are circulating that the Cornetto Trilogy’s Nick Frost will be appearing in this year’s Christmas Special. We know the Christmas episode is filming right now thanks to this tweet from director Paul Wilmshurst, and Frost has apparently been spotted wandering around Cardiff with Dan Starkey (who plays the always-awesome potato one, Strax).

While this is total conjecture and Frost could just really enjoy Wales or spending time with Dan Starkey (whom we hear is lovely), Frost could be playing Santa Claus or some variation of the St. Nick role. Starkey’s presence in Cardiff also suggests the return of the Paternoster Gang.

Seriously though, the only Doctor Who rumor I care about right now is where is my Paternoster Gang spin-off?? Where?!
