Scott Dunbier has done a great service for lovers of comic books and literature everywhere, and for the creators of comics everywhere, by reuniting Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike Dringenberg for Hero Comics 2011.

Hero Comics is the yearly anthology of comic art by the world’s finest creators all proceeds of which go to the Hero Initiative, which, in opposition to the long history of poorly compensated and pensioned comic creators, provides financial assistance to members of the comics community. Gaiman, Kieth and Dringenberg have collaborated on a nine page story, the first two pages of which can be seen below.

Mike Dringenberg and Sam Kieth were the first two artists to work on Neil Gaiman’s rightfully famous Sandman series, Kieth for the first five issues, and Dringenberg for the next eleven. Dringenberg was even responsible for the visual design of Death that we all know and love, Gaiman had initially imagined her looking like this or this.

Susana Polo thought she'd get her Creative Writing degree from Oberlin, work a crap job, and fake it until she made it into comics. Instead she stumbled into a great job: founding and running this very website (she's Editor at Large now, very fancy). She's spoken at events like Geek Girl Con, New York Comic Con, and Comic Book City Con, wants to get a Batwoman tattoo and write a graphic novel, and one of her canine teeth is in backwards.
