Say what you will about the iPad as a capital-C Computer, but the enthusiasm with which it’s been greeted by the less tech-savvy — including a two-year-old, and even cats and dogs — couldn’t have been dreamed of by Apple PR itself. The latest new iPad enthusiast to enter the public eye is a 99-year-old woman named Virginia Campbell, who has never previously owned a computer.
Campbell suffers from glaucoma, which impairs her ability to read even large-print books; the adjustable text size and lighting of the iPad has allowed her to read once again with relative ease. According to her family, the video of her delighted reaction, below, was taken “within minutes of her receiving her iPad”:
