[VIDEO] WWE Recap: Naomi and Bayley Reign Supreme, Festival of Friendship Kills a Bromance

Recommended Videos

Gather around, Mary Suevians! Settle in for another WWE recap with your friendly  neighborhood assistant editor. This week, I’m going over what happened at the Smackdown exclusive pay per view Elimination Chamber as well as Raw, Smackdown Live! and the matches announced for Raw’s upcoming PPV Fastlane.

Elimination Chamber:

I thought it was a good show with some decent matches. Becky Lynch defeating Mickie James in a solid bout. I’m enjoying their feud a lot more than Becky Lynch vs Alexa Bliss, for sure.

Speaking of Bliss, she lost her Women’s Title to a much deserving Naomi. It’s been eight years in the making but I’m glad to see my Glow Queen finally get her due credit. She’s worked so hard for so long and been passed over far too often. Her time is now and I hope she has a long and healthy reign.

Bray Wyatt winning the Elimination Chamber sets up a potential feud with Randy Orton and I’m here for it. Their dynamic is one of the more interesting things on Smackdown so I’m excited to see where this goes.

Raw:

Side note: I mixed up this week’s Raw with last week’s! Still, I’m into this blossoming New Day / Cesaro and Sheamus feud. Both are among my favorite teams on the brand and  they’re just so entertaining to watch.

When is Festival of Friendship getting its own DVD special? This will go down as one of the more memorable moments in recent years. Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens are a give this this business and I loved every second of that segment. Plus, the twist with KO turning on CJ in the end was brilliant. Way to keep things fresh and exciting.

Bayley defeated Charlotte for the Women’s Championship in the main event! Loved seeing her interacting with the crowd after her big win and getting one of the biggest pops of the night. While I’m happy to see things like this happening, that doesn’t take away from the fact that the rest of the women were virtually ignored.  Let’s get them more screentime, por favor.

Smackdown

I am absolutely bored with Nikki Bella and Natalya. Thankfully, it ends soon because Nikki is planning to take some time off. It feels like writers don’t know what to do with either character at this time so they just threw them together. This is one of the most poorly executed feuds in my opinion. There are no stakes, the insults are subpar and it just feels like a waste of everyone’s time. Correction, it is a waste of everyone’s time.

Why did Cena win the championship only to lose and take more time off? Also, AJ Styles is a gift and must be protected at all costs.

So Naomi is injured by still plans to compete at Wrestlemania. I hope she recovers in time and, if so, better not lose her title in her hometown. She deserves so much more than that.

Can we find something better for Dolph Ziggler? Seriously, he’s one of the most talented wrestlers on the roster. Let’s give him something better to work with.

Fastlane

The Raw exclusive event takes place March 5 and three matches have already been announced.

Kevin Owens vs Goldberg [Meh]

Neville vs Jack Gallaher [I enjoy both of these characters so it should be a good match.]

Roman Rains vs Braun Stroman [BOOOORRRRINNNNGG]

*****************

Sorry, I missed NXT and 305 Live this week! Will get better at that. But what did you all think of this week’s WWE events?
