Extended Godzilla Trailer Contains Even More Scenery Chewing

Did you think I meant Godzilla? Because I meant Bryan Cranston. Put him in a movie with Gary Oldman, Nicholas Cage, Charlize Theron and Cate Blanchett, I dare you.

We Asked, You Answered: The Mary Sue Readers Sound Off The Summer Movies of 2014

It seems like it was winter just yesterday, but already summer movie season is starting in the US with today’s release of a little movie called Captain America: The Winter Soldier. A ton of movies are coming out over the next few months, some that we’re looking forward to here at The Mary Sue (Guardians of the Galaxy), some that we’re… not (Transformers: Age of Extinction). But we got curious: Which ones are you most looking forward to? So we asked. What follows is a roundup of the 2014 summer movie season, ranked from the flick you’re are least anticipating to the one you’re most chomping at the bit for. We’ve included our thoughts as well, plus a general sample of the responses we got to each film. (Are you in there? Step up and claim your wit!)

Does the breakdown surprise you, or is it just about what you thought it would be?  Do you differ from the majority? Sound off in the comments.

My Spidey Sense Is Tingling

Puns, Villains, and Screaming Bryan Cranston In New Spider-Man, Godzilla Trailers [VIDEO]

The pun is in the final The Amazing Spider-Man 2 trailer, below the jump, and not the new international Godzilla poster, above. Which is a shame, because the latter’s screenwriters have really missed out on a chance to have a panicked civilian screaming “Oh my God… zilla!!” But I guess the Spider-Man movie with a director named “Webb” is the more fitting option for punnery.

The Godzilla Trailer Has Landed [VIDEO]

With a cast like the one Godzilla has—Bryan Cranston, David Strathairn, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins—I almost don’t care what the movie is. It could be Transformers 6. But it helps that Gareth Edward’s Godzilla reboot looks promising, at least based on this first trailer. And he directed the indie sci-fi flick Monsters, which was quite good, so that’s even better.

We also have the first official synopsis for the movie. Yes, there is more to it than “giant monster!” Check it out behind the jump.

The Avengers: Age of Ultron Finds Its Quicksilver In Kick-Ass

Following in the long-standing tradition of hiring actors from one comic book film to play a different character in another comic book film, Marvel has just hired Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver for The Avengers: Age of Ultron.
