New Art Show Highlights Both Factual and Fictional Women

[View All on One Page]

The Light Grey Art Lab in Minneapolis, Minnesota is currently holding a gallery show titled “Girls: Fact & Fiction.” It features art depicting women from some of our favorite fiction as well as those we adore from real life. Over 100 artists are involved and we couldn’t resist giving you a sampling here. You’ll probably want to buy one or two or ten.

I am distraught that I can not afford every single thing here. Especially Scully.

Frida Kahlo! Amazing, I’d hang that on my wall.

If only there was some sort of deal for paying multiple prints. It’d simply be too hard to choose one :C

Wow these are all lovely. The Samus one seems just a little off though.

Yeah… it has nothing to do with why anyone likes her, and baldly removes most of the character’s gravitas and dignity.

    Awesome Gallery! :D

Errr…*Elizabeth Bathory*? That’s like a cameo portait of Mengele.

That Princess Mononoke fanart, holy shit.

Yeah, that REALLY didn’t ring the right bells for me. Sometimes people seem to mistake “infamous” for “admirable”.

    First of all, AMELIE?!? YES!
Second of all, Elizabeth Bathory? Why in the seven hells would she be included in a showing of admirable women?

No one said they were admirable.

THOSE ARE WONDERFUL <3 …I especially love Hermione!
I'd love to learn the techniques that went into that illustration style.

Wow – I want so many of these. And if you haven’t clicked through the link, do so, because there are lots more great prints than they could feature here.

I want Joan of Arc and I want it now. And Scully too.

  • Nick Gaston

Well, there was that “as well as those we adore from real life” bit in the description text, above.

Though, technically, “adorable” isn’t the same as “admirable,” I’ll grant. ;)
