The Mary Sue Exclusive

An Exclusive Preview of Sword of Sorcery #3 Featuring Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld!

A magical princess in a medieval land of sorcery doesn’t necessarily seem like the sort of thing that would be found in the DC Universe… but who can resist a comic from the creator of Jem and the Holograms? I have to admit I find the back up story, a retelling of Beowulf in the apocalyptic future of the DCU, pretty interesting too. Here’s an exclusive preview of issue #3, including the cover and four pages!

In this issue:

  • Amethyst finally meets her murderous Aunt Mordiel in person! But it turns out that Queen Graciel has secrets of her own. Will House Amethyst be further driven apart?
  • Plus: In the backup, story Beowulf leans the disturbing secret behind the war that ravaged the DC Universe!

2nd in 3 days post about # X of Y comic (1st was about Superbia? on the 12th). As someone who’s not that in to comics, how’s about maybe an intro when the first one comes out?

Eeh… DC really needs to think through the choice of font on the cover. That “S” in survive looks like a classic Nazi-S. I know that’s not what they were going for but…

I really enjoy the Amethyst series. It is fun and pretty well-written. However, I’m sick of it being lumped with Beowulf and anxious for the story to develop more. I’ve been buying the individual issues but may stop and wait for the paperback to come out because what is that point of paying full price for a half a comic?
