    Why aren’t real posters like this? Nobody wants to see a cartoon movie about people who are asleep.

    Right. To take a slightly more serious take on this, I’d say that these ‘posters’ are effective for fans because they rely on our preexisting connections with the movies and their characters, but they also depend on that context to work.

    For the movies I had seen it was fun to look around and find every character I liked depicted, but for ones I hadn’t seen the image provided almost no actual information about the movie or the characters themselves. As my pony predecessor proposed, they don’t actually do an effective job of advertising the movies because of the largely similar depictions and expressions of the characters.

    Why ARE all their eyes closed? The posters are kind of interestingly designed, but the eyes are really bugging me. That one goonie kid is the only one conscious!
