You Can Now Own the Rotisserie Chicken Purse of Your Dreams — and for Only $5.97

Chicken lovers, your day has come!

Some turn fashion into an art form. Walmart is turning it into chicken with a limited-edition rotisserie chicken purse, in celebration of National Chicken Month. Best of all, the bag of rotisserie fanatics’ dreams is retailing for the same price as the store’s rotisserie chicken itself — $5.97.

Why a chicken handbag? Besides September being National Chicken Month, Walmart stated in a press release, according to People, that it sees its highest rotisserie chicken sales during the fall season, with approximately 1 in 12 people making a purchase.

Kim Tunick, Walmart Group Director of Brand Experiences and Partnerships, reportedly also stated, “With more than 15K social mentions in the last year, Walmart’s rotisserie chicken has officially reached a whole new level of fan-favorite status. We wanted to celebrate this fandom by giving the rotisserie chicken its own moment. The Chicken Purse turns that love into something customers can carry with them.”

The Bags Come In Two ‘Flavors,’ and Fans Can Expect Extras

The Chicken Purse comes in two “flavors” — traditional rotisseries and lemon pepper. The bags look like the resealable bags rotisserie chicken comes in (just much sturdier), with a rotisserie chicken on the front, along with info such as the chicken’s net weight, that it has no artificial ingredients, and more. The Traditional Chicken Purse is cream with purple detailing, while the Lemon Pepper Chicken Purse is cream with orange detailing.

If the packaging-shaped purse isn’t enough whimsy for a person, they can add fun charms, which Walmart is also releasing. The miniature bag charms were inspired by pairings that traditionally go with chicken and include lemon pepper seasoning, hot sauce, and a miniature rotisserie chicken.

For those eager to get their hands on a Chicken Purse, they will be available on Spark Shop beginning September 1st at 8:00 a.m. EST.

Walmart Has a History of Getting Creative With Purses

This isn’t the first time Walmart has gone the creative route with one of its handbags. In 2024, the company introduced its viral Walmès Wirkin, a budget-friendlier knock-off of the Hermès Birkin. Everyone from consumers to influencers wanted it, though it did spark some discussion about the ethics behind it.

The Walmès Wirkin came in 12 colors and sold out quickly as its popularity soared. The handbags looked enough like the real Birkin that TikTok creator @wildunfiltered reportedly posted a video of her own Birkin and stated that the Walmart bag “is not a Birkin … it is not made by Hermés. It is no affiliation to Hermés or the Birkin. It is a duplicate, a copy, an ‘inspired-by’ piece. It is not the Birkin. Please don’t think that you’re buying a Birkin, because you’re not.”

Walmart also isn’t the only company to introduce a chicken-themed purse. Earlier in 2026, Chomps, a meat snack brand, introduced “Le Chic’ken,” another limited-edition bag made to resemble the plastic tray packaging that rotisserie chicken sometimes comes in, giving it a very different look from Walmart’s version.
