Woman was “bored” and decided to impersonate a substitute teacher, then she asked the students for weed

Yikes, that's scary.

A 23-year-old woman was arrested for impersonating a substitute teacher because, as she claimed, she was “bored.” Amy Jones allegedly slipped into her former school, Milwaukee Public Schools’ Rufus King International High School, on September 24, 2026. She made it through at least two classes before students told faculty about offensive comments she had made and her strange behavior, which made them uncomfortable.

On October 4, police charged Jones with a single count of impersonating a public employee. Additionally, she was charged with five counts of exposing a child to harmful descriptions.

Jones allegedly surveyed the school a week before entering

According to People, a week before posing as a substitute teacher, Jones slipped past security and into the school by blending with the students. While there, she reportedly heard some faculty talk about an agency for substitute teachers. Apparently, that gave her the idea to pretend to be one.

On September 24, eight teachers were out, but only seven subs were at the school, allowing Jones to enter the school and sign in as a sub. She then went into a classroom and allegedly began asking the students if they had any weed or vapes, because the class was “so f****** lame and annoying.”

She also began berating students. One teen took a video that reportedly showed Jones calling someone “fat.” She also started referring to white students as “white as s***” and “white mother*******.” Beyond that, she reportedly bragged about her time in jail and having felonies, described sexual acts, and organized students by gender and race.

Though Jones wasn’t a real substitute, some schools have had similar issues with actual substitute teachers in recent months engaging in behavior that goes against ethical policies, such as the substitute who asked students to donate money to her GoFundMe for extra credit or the daycare substitute who encouraged 4-year-olds to fight.

Jones seemed proud of her ruse when talking to police

After students complained to the school’s staff about Jones, the principal reportedly called the staffing agency for substitutes and discovered that she was not legitimate. The authorities were contacted and soon arrived to escort Jones from the property.

According to police, Jones claimed she impersonated a substitute because she was “bored.” She also stated that she hated kids and wanted to “f*** around.” Beyond that, she seemed proud of herself for pulling off the ruse.

In her affidavit, police reportedly wrote that she believed the incident would make her “famous.” They continued, “Amy was very excited about that thought, snapping her fingers and dancing. She said she can’t wait to get out.”

Jones was taken to Milwaukee County Jail, where she remains, with her next court date to be held on October 20.

The school sent out a statement to staff and the families of the school’s students that read in part, “[…]our initial investigation determined that this individual involved was a former student recognized by staff[…]In addition to any police actions resulting from this situation, the district is continuing with its own investigation. We will continue to take all appropriate action to ensure that Rufus King International High School remains a safe and welcoming place for our students and staff. “
