Woman Hears Loud Bangs From Inside a Target Restroom. Then She Opened the Door and a Man Allegedly Gives Her the Nastiest Look: ‘My Heart Was Racing’

Restroom break turns terrifying.

A Long Island woman’s alarming encounter in a Target restroom has gone viral, reigniting conversations about safety, employee conduct, and the anxiety that lingers after unsettling public interactions. Kristinaa, @kriistiinaa4 on TikTok, shared her story in a video that’s now circulating widely. Her experience – marked by loud banging, a hostile confrontation, and a manager’s half-hearted apology – left her shaken.

The incident unfolded during a routine trip to Target with her friend Taylor. After chugging espresso on the way, the two hurried to the women’s restroom, where a man in an orange-yellow vest, who was likely a cart attendant, waved them inside. Minutes later, loud banging echoed through the bathroom. The noise was so abrupt and aggressive that both women froze, convinced it was an active shooter situation.

Their panic only intensified when the banging shifted to the door itself. When they finally opened it, the same man was blocking the exit, demanding in a menacing tone, “Is anyone else in there?” Instead of apologizing for scaring them, he allegedly shot Kristinaa “the nastiest look” before walking back into the restroom.

Shaken, Kristinaa and Taylor looked for someone to report the incident to

The pair immediately flagged down a loss-prevention employee and a manager, who confirmed the man was a cart attendant tasked with “bathroom sweeps.” The manager acknowledged his approach was improper but stopped short of offering a real solution. Meanwhile, the employee was seen watching them and radioing about completing his sweep, adding another layer of unease to an already unsettling situation.

Kristinaa’s video, captioned “do better please @target,” has struck a nerve. The manager’s response, while apologetic, felt hollow – especially when the employee’s behavior suggested he either didn’t care or was actively dismissive of their fear.

This isn’t the first time a Target has been at the center of a disturbing restroom incident

In a separate case from earlier this year, a Philadelphia schoolteacher was accused of invading privacy in a Target men’s restroom. According to NBC Philadephia, Naphis Glover, 30, allegedly peered into stalls while people, including a child, were using them. The incidents, reported in December 2025 and January 2026, led to charges of invasion of privacy and harassment.

Glover, a former teacher at A.L. Fitzpatrick School, was reassigned pending an investigation. His case highlights a broader issue: the lack of clear protocols for employees interacting with customers in sensitive spaces. Dennis McAndrews, a former prosecutor and defense attorney specializing in educational law, emphasized the importance of swift action in such cases. “It’s the obligation of school officials to protect students,” he said.

“Whenever they have a report of any kind of immorality or danger to students, they need to take disciplinary action, and it needs to be undertaken by investigation and proceeding quickly.” His comments underscore a critical point – when employees are accused of misconduct, whether in retail or education, institutions must act decisively to prevent further harm. Glover’s case is still pending, with a preliminary hearing waived in June 2026, but the damage to trust has already been done.

The parallels between these two incidents are hard to ignore

Both involve Target locations that left customers feeling violated and unsafe. In Kristinaa’s case, the issue wasn’t malicious intent but a complete lack of consideration for how her experience would unfold. The cart attendant’s decision to bang on the door moments after letting them in, and then interrogating them in a hostile tone, was a failure of basic professionalism.

Target’s policy of having employees conduct “bathroom sweeps” is clearly flawed if it doesn’t account for the alarm it can cause. Kristinaa raises some valid questions. Why was a man assigned to monitor the women’s restroom, she asks. Also, why wasn’t there a clear, non-threatening way to announce his presence? These are questions the company needs to answer.

For Kristinaa, the aftermath has been jarring. She described the experience as traumatic and admitted she’s avoiding that Target location for now. Her video resonates because it taps into a universal fear – being terrified in a place where you’re supposed to feel safe.

Public restrooms are already a source of anxiety for many, especially women, who are often hyper-aware of their surroundings. When an employee’s actions amplify that fear instead of alleviating it, it’s a sign that something is deeply wrong with the system.

If the goal was to reassure customers, it fell short

The response from Target’s management in Kristinaa’s case was disappointing but not surprising. The manager’s apology felt performative, especially when the employee was seen watching them and radioing about his sweep while they were still processing the ordeal. If the goal was to reassure customers, it fell short.

What’s needed is real accountability. This includes training that emphasizes empathy, clear guidelines for restroom checks, and consequences for employees who disregard them. Until then, stories like Kristinaa’s will keep happening, and customers will keep feeling like their safety is an afterthought.

The broader conversation about women’s safety in public spaces is far from over, but incidents like these serve as a stark reminder of how quickly trust can erode. When you walk into a store, you expect to be treated with respect, not subjected to a situation that leaves your heart racing. Kristinaa’s video is a call to action for all retailers to do better.
