Woman from Los Angeles Says She Saw Surgeon Wear Meta Glasses During Breast Examination: ‘Don’t Worry, They’re Not Recording’
He allegedly insisted that the Meta Glasses were not recording.
Meta Glasses have recently been the subject of intense debate over privacy. Although optimal for hands-free recording, there have been concerns about unconsented filming. Taylor (@taylorsdiary.mp4) from Los Angeles told TikTok that while accompanying a patient to their doctor’s appointment, she allegedly spotted that the surgeon was wearing Meta Glasses.
“I’m clocking in for another shift at the Anti-Meta Glasses corporation, because what I experienced today pissed me all the way off,” Taylor said on social media. She claimed to have been accompanying a patient at a post-op boob lift appointment at an undisclosed hospital. As the patient sat down, Taylor glanced at the unnamed doctor and his glasses.
“Those look like Meta Glasses,” she thought to herself at the time. Taylor observed that the glasses were from Ray-Ban with thick temples. But she didn’t say anything at first, wanting to be sure before she objected.
“And then, bingo, the light reflects off the lens of the camera,” Taylor claimed. The session was about to end, and the doctor asked if they had any more concerns. Taylor spoke up and asked if he was wearing Meta Glasses.
“Yeah, but they’re not recording,” the doctor allegedly confirmed. Taylor probed him with further questions. Even on dates, wearing Meta Glasses can be cause for scrutiny. One woman on a date got turned off by her partner after she noticed him wearing Ray-Ban Meta Glasses. But in Taylor’s case, she alleges the doctor was wearing glasses that could potentially record interactions with patients during working hours.
She confronted the doctor
“Why are you wearing Meta Glasses?” Taylor followed up. She claimed that the procedures being done at the particular doctor’s office were boob lifts and tummy tucks. Taylor continued, “You’re interacting with primarily women, I assume, and famously, you have to strip down for these types of appointments.”
“Oh, because when I get text messages, I like to hear them,” the doctor supposedly reasoned. But Taylor pointed out that the doctor was wearing an Apple Watch, making messages easily accessible for him to take a peek at. The doctor allegedly responded by saying he wants to maintain eye contact with his patients.
“If you’re so focused on being locked in with your patients, which you should be, by the way, then it doesn’t matter what format you receive the text in. You can check that when you get off the room,” Taylor further argued.
“Don’t worry, they’re not recording. If they were recording, you will see the little light,” the doctor allegedly said. But Taylor countered the claim by saying there are ways for people to secretly record even with the light turned off. It’s important to note that Meta Ray-Ban glasses recently had an update, which disables the camera if the light feature has been tampered with.
Did he inform his patient about the Meta Glasses?
“You should disclose this to your patients,” Taylor told the doctor. She alleged that he failed to inform her or the patient about the Meta Glasses during the surgery and post-op sessions. But the doctor supposedly said there was no need to tell his patients.
“I don’t have to because I’m not recording,” he allegedly said. The doctor purportedly asserted that there was no reason for him to record. But Taylor didn’t trust his words, reiterating that he could be recording people’s breasts. To that, the other people in the room allegedly chuckled at Taylor’s point.
“I have a nine-year-old and a wife,” the doctor supposedly stated. Taylor didn’t take the statement as a valid defense. She argued that he could still violate his patient’s privacy, regardless of his relationship status. Taylor believes that Meta Glasses should be banned from medical offices. Another man is just as irked by the glasses for another disturbing reason.
