She was really lucky
For women, being stalked by men is unfortunately a common experience. The woman Peter Butler (@voicebutler5) met while shopping at Walmart faced a similar situation. He shared on TikTok that a woman approached him in Walmart and asked him to pretend they knew each other. “A woman walked up to me in Walmart and whispered, can you pretend you came here with me?…I’m looking at her like, what?”
The woman then allegedly pretended to know him, and he soon understood what was happening and started to play along. “Now I know something is wrong, so I just go with it, you know what I’m saying? I’m like, yes, I know what’s about to happen,” he said.
Butler said the woman urged him not to leave, saying two men were following her. “She gets close to me and whispers… Don’t leave me,” Butler said, recalling what she said. He soon got a peek at what he was dealing with when he looked back. “One dude is standing at the end of the aisle. Another one is further behind him. No cart, no basket. And when we start moving, they start moving, too,” Butler said, recalling his observations about the two men.
Butler asked the woman when the men started stalking her, and she supposedly told him that one of them approached her in the parking lot and asked if she needed help. She claimed she denied it, but then saw the man inside the store and later saw the second man “popping up in a different aisle.”
Recounting how they drove the men away, Butler said he and the woman went to an employee, and as soon as the men saw that, they both fled. Butler said security arrived shortly after, and the woman narrated the incidents as they happened, while he corroborated them based on what he saw. Butler also said security made sure the woman was taken care of, checked the store to make sure the guys weren’t there, and that she didn’t go to the parking lot before he left.
“You saved her life”
Butler expressed readiness to respond similarly if a situation like the one at Walmart happens again, and we have at least one instance that it has. He stated, “But if somebody walks up to me, terrified, and says, ‘Pretend you know me,’ I’m not ignoring that.”
People in the comments thanked Butler for helping the woman, with one woman stating that she would have been lucky if someone like him had intervened in a similar situation she had previously faced. She wrote, “You saved her life. I was attacked at gunpoint in 2002. I would’ve given anything for an angel like you. God bless you.” Another wrote, “I applaud you because you probably saved her life. Thank you.”
Some people said the woman considered Butler safe after looking at him and appreciated him for it. One person commented, “I’m sorry, you just looked like someone who would help me’… thanks for having such a great energy to you, you probably saved her life.” Another said, “Bruh, a woman, in 2026, knowing how dangerous men are these days, saw you, and could tell you were a SAFE person to approach. That is about the highest compliment you can receive from a woman, wow.”
Some shared similar experiences. One user mentioned, “Some man followed me out of Walmart to my car. I asked a really nice couple to stay with me as I got into my car. They did. People are crazy.” Another stated, “Thank you, sir. I had to ask a stranger at the bank to watch me get in my car and he did. To that beautiful soul, thank you for watching over me.”
