CinemaCon is going on right now, and there are all sorts of announcements coming out. One of the least surprising, but still good if you’re a Batman fan (moreso if you’re a Batffleck fan), is that Warner Bros. confirmed that they are developing a solo Batman film for Ben Affleck.

During the Warner Bros. panel at CinemaCon, WB chairman and CEO Kevin Tsujihara said outright, “We’re excited to be working with Ben Affleck on a standalone Batman film.”

So the film is happening. What’s still unclear is whether Affleck will be directing, or if they’ll be “working with” him as the film’s star. We also know that he’s apparently been developing a script. However, Affleck prefers to focus on one project at a time. Right now, he’s in post-production for his first directorial project since Argo, a Prohibition-era gangster story called Live by Night. Meanhwile, filming on Justice League just started in London! Affleck is gonna be a busy bee for the next year, at least. So who knows when he’ll get to directing Batman?

Then again, considering the reception Batman v. Superman has been getting, maybe allowing that to become more of a distant memory isn’t such a bad idea.
