Well, this is the best thing ever. After hosting a midnight screening of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, the Universal Orlando Resort surprised everyone at the screening with free access to its Potter theme park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. And instantly, they endeared themselves to the world. Because who doesn’t want to ride a hippogriff after everyone else has left the premises? You know Hagrid’s got your back.
Upon the end of the film, the more than 3,000 people who had just watched the final Harry Potter movie were informed that from the hours of 3:00 to 5:00 AM, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter was theirs. They left the theater — the AMC Universal Cineplex 20, in which all 20 screens were showing the film — and walked a red carpet into the theme park.
During their visit, guests experienced the wand choosing them at Ollivanders, tasted Butterbeer, toured Hogwarts castle and enjoyed many other experiences found only at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
You know, just when you think the world just can’t do anything right, when there’s all this vitriol about the debt ceiling, unnecessary movie remakes, horrible television, Universal goes and pulls a wonderful, heartwarming stunt like this. It was such an amazing move that the Disney Blog had to cover it. Good show, Universal.
