Trump is asking if he should resign, and people are saying yes

Now and then, Donald Trump likes to joke about things he shouldn’t really be joking about, and it often backfires on him. A similar incident happened recently again when Trump took to his social media account to jokingly ask people if he should resign from his current role as the President of the United States, and people responded affirmatively. Damn! That has to hurt.
There has been a lot of noise surrounding the renaming of the John F. Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts to The Donald J. Trump and the John F. Kennedy Memorial Centre for the Performing Arts, and rightfully so. While many people, including those in positions of authority, have expressed their opposition to this change, a recent board vote has officially approved the new name and exterior signage, meaning that, at least on paper, the changes have been made, and there is little that can be done by others.
Nevertheless, Trump is further fueling the controversy surrounding the renaming of the John F. Kennedy Centre by announcing on his social media platforms that The Trump Kennedy Centre Honours will be aired on CBS and streamed on Paramount Plus on December 24, 2025. Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Trump asked everyone through his post to tune in to the mentioned sources at 8 P.M. EST. He also informed his followers that he would be hosting the event upon requests from Board members and “just about everybody else in America.” He jokingly mentioned leaving his role as the President of the United States to become a full-time host. This is exactly what he said:
“THE TRUMP KENNEDY CENTER HONORS will be broadcast tonight, on CBS, and Stream on Paramount+. Tune in at 8 P.M. EST! At the request of the Board, and just about everybody else in America, I am hosting the event. Tell me what you think of my “Master of Ceremony” abilities. If really good, would you like me to leave the Presidency to make “hosting” a full time job?”
In his message, Trump also listed the names of individuals who would be celebrated during the event, mentioning “GREATS in the History of Entertainment” such as Sylvester Stallone, Michael Crawford, KISS, George Strait, and Gloria Gaynor. Following his announcement on social media, many users flocked to the comments section, agreeing with him and suggesting that he should resign from his position to help make America “sane, prosperous, and respected again.”
