The ‘YAGA’ Teaser Delivers An Unforgettable Hudson Williams Moment
What's he doing with that chicken...

YAGA is an upcoming mystery series and feminist fairy tale starring the incomparable Carrie-Anne Moss based on a play by Canadian playwright Kat Sandler. It’s also the first time that Hudson Williams will appear on screen acting in a television series since Heated Rivalry season 1, and boy howdy did the YAGA teaser trailer that dropped at San Diego Comic-Con milk that for all its worth.
The Crave original series, which will be distributed by AMC Networks in the United States, also stars Noah Reid (Schitt’s Creek, The Vampire Lestat) and Clark Backo (Letterkenny). It may interest you to know that the series features none other than Megan Follows, who played the title role in the 90s Anne of Green Gables miniseries and television movies. Yaga is full of true Canadian royalty!
YAGA follows a detective named Rapp, played by Reid, who arrives at a hazy coastal town to investigate the disappearance of a fishing heir played by Williams. There, he meets Moss’ character Katherine, a university professor who prefers younger men–maybe even her students–and was involved with Henry.

YAGA is a spooky, sexy take on folklore’s most eccentric witch.
“There’s versions of her all over the world,” Katherine says in the teaser. “Sometimes she’s an ugly old witch who lives in a disappearing hut on chicken feet. Sometimes she’s a wise woman. An enchantress. A healer. Sometimes she helps a hero on his quest. Sometimes she tests him. Sometimes she kills him. Sometimes she eats him. Sometimes she f*cks him. But she always has a name.”
What name, you ask, shivering in anticipation? “Baba Yaga,” whispers an older woman played by Sheila McCarthy who resembles what we might imagine for that mythical figure. The teaser really does fulfill the premise’s promise of sleepy small town mystery meets spooky folklore promise. There are runes. There’s a bonfire in the woods. There’s dead chickens and a lot of blood. It also looks very horny… and not just because of a man (not Williams… I don’t think) in a tank top wearing bacchanalian horns on his head.
As for the Williams updates/recap of the teaser, there’s something for everyone. In under 60 seconds of footage we see his character Henry do it all: active listening, kissing, sex, looking in a mirror while kissing, hanging out on the beach, wearing a flower crown while holding a living chicken, masturbating while wearing a Taylor Swift-esque cardigan… what more could you want? Imagine what evil nonsense he’s going to get up to in the whole series! September cannot come soon enough.
