Bron Animation Adapting Lois Lowry’s The Willoughbys

Bron Animation is adapting Lois Lowry’s popular children’s book, The Willoughbys. Lowry, whom many will recognize as the author of The Giver, plays with tropes in children’s literature (bad parents! a nanny!) in this story about four old-fashioned siblings.

Without giving too much away, it’s a fun and slightly off-beat book and I’m excited to see that animated. Brenda Gilbert, president of Bron Animation, says:

The Willoughbys is a wonderful and unexpected story that fits our goal of producing animated films that are unique and a bit edgy.

Kris Pearn, who was head of story in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and Adam Wood, who previously worked on Pixar films like Finding Nemo are adapting the book, with Wood as director.
