The football player she was dating threatened to bash her head. When she reported him to the university, they dismissed it as ‘a love triangle’
She believes she wouldn't have survived if her dad didn't take her home.
In light of the allegations regarding seven men from Cornell University, Ink (@inkverywell) weighed in and shared her experience at her university regarding alleged threats of abuse and assault.
“Colleges protect predators because colleges are run by predators,” Ink prefaced on TikTok. She does not clarify which university she attended. However, she told TikTok about her experience of reporting to authorities after receiving threats from her ex-boyfriend, who was a football player. During sophomore year, Ink said she dated her footballer boyfriend, who was allegedly cheating on his girlfriend from his hometown.
“And when we both found out about each other, she came up to the school, and in an effort to get her back, he told her he would kill me for her,” Ink alleged. She further accused him of leaving a voicemail in which he allegedly said he would “bash” Ink’s head. He made other graphic threats against Ink while also allegedly threatening to end the lives of her roommates.
Concerned, Ink’s father took her home. She continued, “When we called the school to alert them that this was happening, they said, ‘This just sounds like a lovers’ quarrel. It sounds like a love triangle.'” Ink also claimed that she received calls from the football coaches. They allegedly warned her that she was going to “ruin” her ex-boyfriend’s life if she came forward.
“Somebody actually asked me, ‘Has he done it?’ And to be completely honest, if my dad wouldn’t have brought me home, he probably would have,” Ink said. She believes her ex would’ve attacked her if she stayed on campus.
Her university allegedly didn’t help
“He left me multiple voicemails,” Ink said. Although the man apologized, she claimed it took him eight years to send one on Facebook. She continued, “The school protected him. He never got charged with the stalking and harassment that he did for weeks and months to follow. I was ostracized by the entire community.” Even those who were successful in seeking justice can face the same stigma. According to another woman who reported a student athlete for assault, she suffered the aftermath of the abuse. She also accused his friends of making her life difficult on their university campus, even after her alleged abuser was expelled. Although her university did not protect the man, she still suffered from social repercussions.
“Schools protect abusers and predators because they are founded on the foundations of abusers and predators. This is the same school that let a white fraternity get away with killing their first and only Black vice president of that frat chapter,” Ink alleged against her university. She claimed the incident happened in 2009.
Ink continued, “That’s why they let abusers and predators get away with what they do. So, that Cornell University situation: triggering, violent, disgusting.” However, she has little faith that change would happen at Cornell University. The institution went viral after seven students from the Xi chapter of the Chi Phi fraternity were accused of sexually assaulting another female student in 2024. The defendants were allegedly given the opportunity to mitigate their conduct by submitting essays to the university. Cornell University, in a statement, said that the Xi chapter remains barred from campus. But according to ABC News, the District Attorney’s Office of New York is reopening the investigation.
