Don your tinfoil hats, folks, cause this one’s a doozy. Public Policy Polling, one of the nation’s foremost poll facilitators, released some very interesting statistics related to a poll they had run asking Florida voters whether they think presidential candidate Ted Cruz is the infamous Zodiac Killer or not.

In case you aren’t up with your Weird Twitter news, “Ted Cruz is the Zodiac Killer” was something that spread a bit like wildfire after he delivered a speech titled “This is the Zodiac Speaking” at the Conservative Political Action Conference in 2013. The title of his speech is the same salutation or greeting that the Zodiac Killer used to open every single one of his cryptic letters to the press or the police. What the hell would possess a man to use that as a speech title? Who knows.

Not a whole lot happened then and there aside from maybe a few conspiracy theorists doing a bit of a double take, but when Cruz’s presidential campaign took off, everyone came out of the woodwork to both present some “hard evidence” proving he’s the killer. Oh, and to make hella jokes. Because Twitter loves weird jokes.

The next logical progression of course is to have Public Policy Polling give the last question on a poll to Weird Twitter.

What were the results, you ask? Well:

Finally we find that 38% of Florida voters think it’s possible that Ted Cruz is the Zodiac Killer. 10% say he for sure is, and another 28% say that they are just not sure. Cruz is exonerated from being a toddler serial killer by 62% of the Sunshine State populace.

Just let that sink in for a moment. While it’s highly pretty sorta maybe a little bit unlikely that Cruz is the killer, what’s for sure is that this is something that’s going to follow the guy around for a long, long time now.

Maybe don’t title your speeches after infamous serial killer salutations, eh, Cruz?
