Max & the crew in Stranger Things Season 4

Will There Be a Time Jump in ‘Stranger Things’ Season 5?

After what was a long wait, Netflix finally dropped Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 1 on May 27th. To say the premiere started off with a bang would be an understatement. The somewhat unbalanced comedic vibes from season 3 are relatively behind us. Now the show is back to being darker with Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower), who is an even freakier villain than the Mind Flayer. The horror is amped up to an incredible amount and so it’s fun for horror fans. Especially with the nods to A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) for instance.

Strangers Things Vol 2 is fast approaching with episode 8 (“Papa”) and episode 9 (“ The Piggyback”) coming out on July 1st. The season finale is said to be 2 hours, 30 minutes! And with all the intensity this season there’s plenty to resolve like Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) and Nancy (Natalia Dyer)’s relationship, Will (Noah Schnapp)’s feelings for Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Hopper (David Harbour) and Joyce (Winona Ryder) being stuck in Russia with Murray (Brett Gelman), Max dealing with her grief, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) getting her powers back, Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) being a major threat, and all the other tidbits.

So, what lies ahead for Stranger Things season 5? Will there be a time jump?

The answer according to the Duffer Brothers is very likely.

The fifth and final season will be set in 1987 or 1989 (hopefully the latter). Having the final season end at the tail end of the ‘80s would be perfect. That nostalgia (or secondhand nostalgia) that people feel when watching the show will come to a close. And whoever survives this season and the final season will be entering brand new chapters in their lives. If the show weren’t ending then it would be cool to see the surviving characters navigating the ‘90s. Wouldn’t it?
