Netflix's Stranger Things has plans to see you soon.

After over 2 and a half years of uncertainty and no new episodes, Stranger Things season 4 is finally becoming a reality and will be hitting Netflix soon. Stranger Things is a Netflix original science fiction drama series created by the Duffer brothers. The series has run for three seasons so far and stars Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Winona Ryder, and David Harbour.

Stranger Things takes place in Hawkins, Indiana, where a young boy’s disappearance sparks a group of friends’ confrontation with supernatural forces and government secrets. The series has captivated audiences with its unique blend of the past and present and mix of genres, with a throwback to ’80s science fiction and horror, thriller, and drama, as well. When season 3 released in July of 2019, fans expected it would only take 1-1.5 years for the next season to drop. However, the COVID-19 pandemic threw a wrench in production and made season 4 updates few and far between.

Now that the silence regarding the new season has been broken, when will Stranger Things season 4 hit Netflix, and how many episodes will there be?

Stranger Things’ big season 4 is coming soon

As announced on Stranger Things’ official Twitter page, Stranger Things season 4 will consist of nine episodes. These nine episodes will be split up into two different volumes, with Volume One hitting the streaming service on May 27, and Volume Two coming five weeks later on July 1. The Stranger Things Twitter account confirmed nine scripts and that the runtime of season 4 will be more than twice that of previous seasons.

At the time of that announcement, it was unknown just how many episodes would be in each volume of the split final season. Now, we know that Volume One will consist of five episodes, while Volume Two will consist of the final four episodes of the season. After those nine episodes, all that’s left is to wait for the fifth and final season.

The delay in new episodes will likely turn out to be a good thing, as many of the cast and crew have teased that Stranger Things season 4 will be the biggest one yet, which means it’ll take even more time to make it the best it can be, too.
