Soulja Boy posts a photo with an American flag to his Instagram. Then he reveals he is exploring a run for the presidency in 2028
Soulja Boy 2028

Almost 20 years ago, you couldn’t turn on the radio without hearing Soulja Boy’s “Crank That” play. Now, in 2026, Soulja Boy teased a potential run for president in the upcoming 2028 election on his Instagram, according to Unilad.
Soulja Boy isn’t affiliated with any political party currently, at least not publicly, and he hasn’t made an official announcement declaring that he’s actually running for president. However, Soulja Boy’s tease about a presidential bid quickly racked up over 100,000 likes within a day.
There are four issues Soulja Boy is focused on
In his Instagram post about a 2028 run, Soulja Boy shared the four main issues that he feels need to be addressed. For Soulja Boy, the main issues facing Americans today are “economic opportunity, criminal justice reform, education, and the future of technology and AI.”
AI in particular has been a hot topic recently, especially with tech CEOs and employees sharing their concerns about the technology. This even includes Bill Gates, who warned of a possible billion deaths from AI.
Soulja Boy included how he would approach holding public office in his post by saying, “From music to business to technology, I’ve always believed in thinking bigger and challenging what’s possible.”
While he hasn’t publicly run for office previously, Soulja Boy has been involved in politics for several years. He performed at Trump’s Crypto Ball in 2025, and he was the subject of a 2019 Saturday Night Live skit that joked about a potential presidential run by Soulja Boy.
The 2028 presidential candidate list is quite long
Steve Bannon has teased a Trump third term, which goes against the Constitution that limits presidents to serving a maximum of two terms. However, Ballotpedia doesn’t have Trump listed as a registered presidential candidate for 2028.
The list of potential candidates is long, but both parties have some candidates who appear more likely to get the nomination than others. For Democrats, this includes Andy Beshear, Pete Buttigieg, Mark Kelly, Gavin Newsom, Jon Ossoff, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. For Republicans, this includes Greg Abbott, Ted Cruz, Ron DeSantis, J.D.Vance, Donald Trump Jr., and John Kennedy.
It’s not clear yet if Soulja Boy will commit to a presidential bid in 2028, and if he does, which party he would join to run as, although he could choose to run as an Independent as well. However, his interest in entering politics drew a decent amount of attention regardless of what decision he makes from here.
