Simon Pegg Confirms He’s Writing Idris Elba a “Kickass Role” for Star Trek 3

Oh, and The Force Awakens will apparently leave us "vibrating!"

Nerd Do Well and Star Trek 3 scribe, Simon Pegg, spoke with MTV recently and confirmed that not only was he writing a “kickass” role for Idris Elba, but that it would be a never-before-seen character!

While there’s no word as to whether the character will be human or not, Pegg does make the great point that “This is the five year mission, we’re out there. We don’t need to keep bumping into the same five people. It’s a massive universe!”

In the interview, Pegg also talks about what he thought about having seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Knowing what a huge Star Wars fan he is, his opinion carries a lot of weight with me. And according to Pegg, The Force Awakens is gonna deliver everything we wanted from the prequels, but didn’t get. SQUEE.

It makes me feel better about geek pop culture to know that folks like Simon Pegg are creating it while continuing to be One Of Us.
