Showtime Is Now the First Premium Service to Come to Hulu; Also to Launch Their Own Streaming Service in July

I CAN FINALLY FINISH WATCHING MASTERS OF SEX!

Recommended Videos

If you’re like me, and are a fan of Masters of Sex, Homeland, or any of Showtime’s other offerings but have cut down on cable, because cable is too damn expensive and why the hell should I pay more for certain channels and be forced to get channels I don’t even want or need as part of a package just so I can watch my Doctor Who?! have we got good news for you! Showtime is now the first Premium Cable channel to come to Hulu.

Showtime just made the deal for Hulu’s nearly 9 Million subscribers to be able to have all of Showtime’s content available to them as of next month! Now, you do have to pay extra – $8.99/month extra, to be exact – to have access to Showtime on Hulu. But that’s way less expensive than the full-blown cable package you’d need for the same content. With Showtime on Hulu, and HBO content on Amazon Prime, it looks like all the premium bases are covered on platforms that allow you to watch this content through your Playstations, Apple devices, Roku, and more!

However, that’s not the only new thing Showtime’s doing. Starting July 12th (the day after my birthday, so Thanks, Showtime!) they are launching their own digital streaming service a la HBO NOW. What they’re not doing is giving it an overblown name to differentiate it from the cable channel. It’s just Showtime, y’all. And it’ll be offered for $11/month (as opposed to HBO’s $15/month). Also unlike HBO NOW, you’ll get both Showtime’s East Coast and West Coast feeds. *mic drop*

Right now, Hulu doesn’t have any immediate plans for other services like Showtime, but it’s not completely off the table. We’re so glad that Showtime is finally getting with the times and making it easier for us to watch their shows in multiple places! *plays dirge for cable television*
