Weirrrrrd: according to The Hollywood Reporter, the incredibly busy duo of Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have optioned the rights to Serial and will be developing a series with Fox 21 Television Studios. The show will not focus on the case examined in the first season of Serial, but instead will based on “the experience of making the hugely successful podcast.”
Lord and Miller reportedly pitched the series to Serial creator Sara Koenig and the This American Life team, and were very well received.
Although I truly have no interest in a televised adaptation of Serial, if it has to happen, I’m glad it won’t be focusing on Hae Min Lee and Adnan Syed. What do you think, friends? Does this series sound like it has potential?
