Samantha Bee on Ivanka Trump on Full Frontal

Samantha Bee Blasts Ivanka Trump for This Week’s “Second Most Oblivious Tweet” in the Face of Immigration Crisis

Recommended Videos

Samantha Bee’s Full Frontal segment last night on the crisis migrant families are dealing with in the face of the Trump administration’s heartless immigration policy wasn’t entirely about Ivanka Trump. But a scathing closing that highlighted the First Daughter’s oblivious hypocrisy sure put a nice button on the whole thing.

The segment as a whole was, of course, about the plight of undocumented families who—and this is important—whether they follow the letter of the law or not (so, it’s not really about “lawbreakers.” It never was) have children separated from their parents at our borders, and the trauma that can cause.

Bee talks about the fact that abuses against undocumented children aren’t new under the Trump administration, only that the administration has made them much, much worse. There’s also a special brand of callousness that the entire administration is employing with regard to these children, basically summed up in the attitude: Well, if you don’t want us to treat you like animals, don’t come here illegally.

However, at the end of the incisive segment, Bee takes a moment to point out this tweet from Ivanka Trump, “who works at the White House,” which Trump posted at the height of all the brouhaha surrounding these separated families:

Salt, meet wound.

Bee does not hold back on her opinion, saying:

“You know Ivanka, that’s a beautiful photo of you and your child, but let me just say—one mother to another—do something about your dad’s immigration practices you feckless cunt. He listens to you! Put on something tight and low-cut and tell your father to fucking stop it. Tell him it was an Obama thing and see how it goes, okay?”

*blinks*

Yeah, pretty much. I have nothing further to add. Do you have anything to add? No? Cool? We good? Awesome.
