In my opinion, the 1960s Batmobile’s sleek design (and the red and black color scheme!) trumps the overblown, increasingly bulky Batmobiles of the modern films any day. So, I was thrilled to see the above clip from the new animated film, Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders, feature our heroes jumping into that car!

Return of the Caped Crusaders stars Adam West and Burt Ward, and Julie Newmar reprising their roles from the 1960s Batman TV show and Batman: The Movie. What’s cool to me about this clip is that, while the action and the music clearly evoke the era of those projects, the animation is obviously much newer. So, we get to see the world of 1960s Batman with a bit of a modern sheen on it, without taking away from what made the original film and TV show so charming.

Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders, from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and DC Entertainment, is out on Digital HD NOW and will be released on Blu-Ray Nov. 1.
