Welcome back to Pull Wisely, in which I join my colleagues Teresa Jusino and Jessica Lachenal in choosing the stack of comics worth picking up this New Comic Book Day — tomorrow, January 20th, 2016.

In the meantime, enjoy the html version below. I guess. If that's your thing.
Captain Marvel #1 w: Tara Butters a: Kris Anka p: Marvel Comics Captain Marvel returns, with a brand-new new creative team! Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas, the showrunners for Agent Carter , will be penning Carol's exploits – with help from Kris Anka's illustration prowess. We're thrilled to see where they take her character.
Harley Quinn #24 w: Amanda Conner a: Chad Hardin p: DC Comics Harley Quinn has to go back into Arkham Asylum and brave its horrors once more in order to help a friend.
Hellcat #2 w: Kate Leth a: Brittney L. Williams p: Marvel Comics We loved the first issue of Hellcat – the second issue promises us friendship, burgers, monsters, rent money struggles, and a ghost from the past with questionable motives. Yes, please!
Ice King #1 w: Emily Partridge a: Natalie Andrewson p: BOOM! Studios The long-awaited Ice King mini-series begins this week! Adventure Time has always straddled the difficult line between villainizing and humanizing the Ice King; it'll be interesting to see how this series approaches his character.
Lumberjanes #22 w: Shannon Watters, Kat Leth a: Carey Pietsch p: BOOM! Studios Lumberjanes continues to impress! In this issue, in a moment of desperation, it looks like the Lumberjanes have to turn to perhaps one of the raddest characters in the series: The Bear Woman.
Max Ride: Ultimate Fight #3 w: Jody Houser a: R. B. Silva p: Marvel Comics After an amazing first installment, the Max Ride series continues to get better in its second. In this issue, Max and her fellow genetically enhanced teens, The Flock, discover one of their sets of parents! This is going to be big!
Ms. Marvel #3 w: G. Willow Wilson a: Takeshi Miyagawa p: Marvel Comics Oh no! It's not gentrification Kamala has to worry about! It's Jersey City's residents being brainwashed!
Phonogram #6 w: Kieron Gillen a: Jamie McKelvie p: Image Comics This issue marks the end of this mini-series, and as a fan of Phonogram , it’s something that I’ve been both looking forward to and dreading for a long time. If you haven’t gotten on board the Phonogram train at all, you should hop on—especially if you might consider yourself a bit of a pretentious music snob. Join us!
Poison Ivy Cycle #1 w: Amy Chu a: Clay Mann p: DC Comics This new mini-series features Poison Ivy joining the plant sciences department at Gotham Botanical Gardens as mild-mannered Dr. Pamela Isley -- then getting maybe-framed for a murder (!!!).
Star Wars #15 w: Jason Aaron a: Mike Mayhew p: Marvel Comics If you find yourself desperate to stay on that Star Wars hype train, then the Star Wars comic over at Marvel is the best way to do that. Even better, this issue dips into Obi-Wan’s life on Tatooine post-Revenge of the Sith, something I know I’ve always been curious about.
