Piers Morgan Exposes Russell Brand’s Religious Grift On Air

Piers Morgan exposed Russell Brand for grifting to Christians. Social media has been viciously eating up Morgan’s deadpan expression on camera when the actor failed to locate Bible verses that were “relevant” to his experiences.
Brand recently became a Christian. In lieu of this, the actor also published a book titled ‘How to Become a Christian in Seven Days’ and has been appearing on channels with right-wing viewership. Brand came to Piers Morgan Uncensored to talk about his beliefs and his recent controversies.
Morgan thought that Brand had hollow beliefs, bringing up that many people perceive Brand as a grifter. He told the actor, “You’re very smart, you’re very eloquent, and you could be very persuasive about your words. But actually, when it comes to any of these issues, you don’t really have a personal, principled view.”
Brand denied the allegations of being a grifter but was unable to elaborate on his principles after asking for a glass of water. Morgan gave the actor the benefit of the doubt, stating that he didn’t know the truth behind Brand’s beliefs—and that perhaps only he himself would know. Nevertheless, Morgan brought up that Brand responds with non-answers instead of clearly stating his opinions.
Russell Brand struggles to find a Bible verse
Morgan proceeded with the segment, asking Brand about his thought process when he took the Bible into court.
“What were the relevant passages for you?” Morgan asked, which prompted Brand to skim through the Bible. After a minute of confused searching, Morgan looked into the camera for a few seconds. The journalist’s reaction trended online alongside Brand’s desperate search for the inspirational Bible verse.
Social media tore into Brand’s awkward moment on air.
One X post reads, “Trying to figure out where you went wrong building that IKEA cupboard.”

Another wrote, “I actually had to look away from the screen.”

Piers Morgan himself had comments to spare after the interview. He wrote on his social media account, “I knew my Russell Brand interview would be an interesting experience when he insisted on saying a prayer for both of us before we started.”
An incentive to grift
Brand’s inability to find the Bible verse he was looking for failed to beat the Christian grifter allegations against him. Converts would naturally struggle to navigate the text of the Bible, but struggling on air does little to convince people that Brand is sincere about his newfound faith. It also doesn’t help that he released a book about converting to Christianity so soon after his baptism.
The actor converted in 2024, following sexual assault allegations leveled against him in 2023. Brand will go on trial for rape and sexual assault in the UK involving multiple women in June 2026.
Brand goes on a full-blown meltdown
It seems that not even the giant cross hanging on Brand’s neck could convince people about his supposed conviction to Christianity. When Morgan continued the interview and asked about Brand’s past as an atheist, Brand accused the journalist of being “antagonistic.”
“What are you going to be next? A Muslim? A Jew? A Scientologist? What about Hitler? What do you think about Hitler?” Brand says in a fit of rage, in which Morgan had to de-escalate the conversation. Morgan reminded Brand of Bear Gryll’s advice—a mutual friend of theirs—to “calm down.”
“No, you take Bear’s advice and be a good man!” Brand responded, as he clearly disliked how his previous convictions were brought into the spotlight. He accused Morgan of spinning a narrative against him.
But it is a fact that Brand was an atheist. He was not explicitly Buddhist, but he did dabble in East Asian philosophies.
