TV Trailer Round Up: OITNB Looks Intense, Bill Nye to Save Us All, The Originals Returns Soon

As spring approaches, more and more TV premiere dates are being released. On Tuesday, we learned that Orphan Black is returning later than expected. Now, Netflix has released the premiere date for Orange Is the New Black’s fifth season which, according to Danielle Brooks who plays Taystee, will take place over three intense days.

I’m assuming the show will pick up where we left off at the end of season four, with the inmates staging a riot after prison officials attempted to cover up the circumstances surrounding Poussey’s untimely death. When the show returns on June 9, things will surely hit the fan.

Bill Nye is back and he’s here to save the world! Actually, that’s just the title of his new Netflix series. Bill Nye Saves the World will be different from his ’90s kids show in that it will follow a late night format with a studio audiences. Much like Mythbusters, he’ll debunk myths and anti-scientific claims through experiments and demonstrations. “We address social issues from a scientific perspective,” Nye said. “It’s a lot of fun.”

The show premieres on April 21 and will consist of 13 episodes. Special guests include Zach Braff, Rachel Bloom, Tim Gunn, Joel McHale and Wil Wheaton. Oh, and expect a variety of topics ranging from climate change to sex. This ain’t the show from your childhood.

With The Vampire Diaries coming to an end, The Originals will take over its timeslot starting March 17. The show centers on Klaus and his dysfunctional Mikaelson family as they fight for survival against a never-ending list of enemies. A lot has happened over three seasons including Klaus becoming a father, Elijah wearing sweat pants, Hayley turning into a badass hybrid, Kol being brought back to life and Marcel becoming indestructible.

But once again, the family is in peril after their long-lost sister Freya was poisoned, Kol and Elijah hurt from Marcel’s incurable bites and Klaus sacrificed himself to help his family. When the show returns in a month, five years will have passed as Hayley searches for a cure for the family while also raising her daughter Hope.

Which show are you most excited to see return?
