I’m not super familiar with the Ocean’s Eleven fandom, will anybody’s childhood be ruined by this?

After working together on Our Brand Is Crisis, The Playlist says Sandra Bullock and Amal Alamuddin’s husband are reuniting for a gender-swapped Ocean’s Eleven, starring Bullock in what historically has been Clooney’s role in the franchise. Clooney will produce the project, which will reportedly be written by Little Women screenwriter Olivia Milch.

The Ocean movies usually have large ensemble casts, so it’s exciting to think of all the rad ladies that could join this project. Still, this is one of the very rare instances where I do wish we were getting new lady-led media rather than just rehashing projects that have already been fronted by men, maybe because the Ocean franchise has never seemed very iconic to me.

That being said, I also trust Clooney and Bullock; hopefully neither of them would sign on for an all-female heist movie where the women use their powers of seduction to get the job done or something else equally obvious and stereotypical.

What do you think, friends?
