North Carolina Woman’s Goodwill Find Turns Unexpectedly ‘Gross’ After She Flips Shorts Inside Out: ‘This is Freakin’ Nasty’
That is actually nasty.
People are always looking to score amazing finds with a cheap price tag, just like someone who hit the jackpot after finding a jacket with a $250,000 value for just $3. But for one woman who visited Goodwill in Concord, North Carolina, her thrift store find only ended with her feeling pretty grossed out.
Tarzee (@tarahartis) shared the incident on TikTok, which has since gained over 5.6 million views. “Gross Goodwill Find,” Tarzee wrote in the on-screen text when she grabbed a pair of vivid blue athletic shorts off the rack before warning viewers to always inspect the store’s items.
“Alright, guys. This is why you always really check the clothes at Goodwill,” Tarzee said. In the video, Tarzee can be seen inspecting the piece of clothing before turning the shorts inside out. “Look at the crotch on this pair of shorts,” she said before showing viewers what appeared to be dried and flaky vaginal discharge on the inner crotch area.
Always check items before buying
“Ya’ll, this is freakin’ nasty,” Tarzee said. Tarzee said she wished she could simply throw the shorts away in a trash can, but considering it’s a Goodwill product, such an act can’t just be done. “Anyway, check them before you buy them, ya’ll,” she added.
This isn’t the first time a shocking discovery was made at a Goodwill store, nor is it the most unexpected. One woman said she found herself holding what appeared to be someone’s ash remains after purchasing a wallet, so seeing something “gross” on clothing isn’t too far-fetched.
Viewers were left equally grossed out by Tarzee’s discovery. “Was not prepared for the clam chowder,” one viewer wrote. Another added, “WHY TF ARE YOU TOUCHING IT.” Some couldn’t help but poke fun at the TikToker for giving such a close-up view. “BACK US UP! TF IS WRONG WITH YOU!” a viewer said.
Others joked that Tarzee could earn a lot of money by selling the shorts online, saying, “On eBay those cost extra.” However, others criticized the people who donate without cleaning their items beforehand. “For everyone in the comments it’s not gross to HAVE discharge, it’s gross to donate clothes without thoroughly washing them and even then don’t donate them if they even HAVE a stain,” a viewer wrote.
Goodwill doesn’t wash donated clothes before selling them
If you are a frequent shopper at Goodwill, it’s always best to check clothing items before buying and wash them prior to wearing, just in case you come across a similar incident. According to Homestead How-To, Goodwill does not wash any of the donated clothing before putting it out for sale, and the same can be said for other thrift shops.
Given the high volume of items Goodwill receives, clothing doesn’t go through any cleaning process at all. Rather, they immediately go through a sorting system where employees inspect each item for issues, such as damage, stains, and odor. Items with issues are rejected, while those that pass get tagged, priced, and sent to stores.
Now, that raises the question: why did the shorts make it to the sales floor? Despite going through inspection, it is likely a human error, and an employee didn’t thoroughly check the shorts’ inner lining.
In a follow-up video, Tarzee said she went back to the same Goodwill store to see if the shorts were still there. According to the TikToker, the shorts were gone when she checked. However, she doesn’t know what actually happened to them—whether an employee took them off for sale or it was bought by someone.
