New York woman received the wrong Meshki dresses. Now, she’s struggling to return them: ‘Am I getting pranked?’
She got green and purple, but not gold.

Rachel Lim (@rachelhlim) was hunting for her 30th birthday dress in New York City. She settled on a Meshki dress and hoped it would arrive in time. But after several package mix-ups, she aired out her frustration on TikTok.
“Guys, I’m literally about to lose my mind. I ordered from Meshki,” she explained on TikTok. It was her first time ordering from the Australian retail brand, and she found a gold dress on their website, which she planned to wear on her birthday weekend. With an upcoming trip, she chose express shipping so that the package would arrive by Monday.
“So, I get this green dress. Unrelated, definitely don’t know how the mix-up happened,” Lim claimed. The dress wasn’t just a different color. Instead, it was a completely different style from the dress she initially ordered. Lim forgave the mix-up, saying that mistakes happen. However, she still had to print the return label, go to USPS, and submit the return and receipt to get her refund.
“Annoying, but sure, mistakes happen,” Lim said. She decided to give Meshki another chance and ordered the dress again. The dress was on final sale, so she couldn’t return it if it didn’t fit. However, instead of getting the glamorous gold dress of her dreams, Lim claimed she got the purple variant she ordered.
Meshki reached out and tried to make it right
“Am I getting pranked? Is this a joke?” she expressed on TikTok. While two other New York City residents are coming for a notorious porch pirate, nobody stole Lim’s package. Instead, the brand allegedly delivered the wrong items. Lim still wants the dress but is hesitant to order a third time.
Social media users weighed in and sent compliments to Lim while wearing the purple dress. However, it’s still not the dress she wanted. Meshki saw her initial video and reached out. The brand wrote, “We’re so sorry this has happened. We’re committed to investigating this and making things right. We’ve sent you a DM to request your order details so we can help resolve this.” Despite their attempt to resolve it, Lim said she had limited time in New York City and had to leave for her flight. As a result, she decided to scour brick-and-mortar stores in the city for the perfect gold ensemble for her golden birthday party.
She went to Zara but found mostly fall essentials. At Aritzia, she found a beige-toned dress, but not quite golden. Lim knew Uniqlo specialized in basics, but she went anyway to try her luck. Although she didn’t call the Meshki experience a scam, another woman was just as frustrated when her $75 beauty bundle never arrived. Regardless, Lim’s brick-and-mortar dress search was also a bust. She found a golden suit at Nordstrom, but it wasn’t the look she’d hoped for.
In her recent update video, Lim said that even though she left for a different location, Meshki decided to correct the package mix-up and send her a bundle. The brand messaged Lim, “We’d love to try to get your outfits to you today so you can sparkle this weekend.” Lim showed a package delivered to her doorstep but didn’t reveal the outfits Meshki sent her. Despite the initial hiccup, the package she hoped to receive arrived just in time for her weekend celebration.
