Anne, the CBC 8-episode adaptation of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables, is coming to Netflix May 12th. To announce Anne Shirley’s arrival, they issued a “Red Alert.” Get it?
Following a montage of the streaming service’s most prominent redheads, we get a look at the new series with Amybeth McNulty as young orphan Anne Shirley. The video description promises that “Anne’s adventures will reflect timeless and topical issues including themes of identity, feminism, bullying and prejudice.” The showrunner, Breaking Bad’s Moira Walley-Beckett, wrote the episodes and Niki Caro directed the pilot, so I’m definitely looking forward to seeing a new adaptation of this beloved classic.
The announcement also made sure to remind us never to call Anne “Carrots,” lest we face her wrath. I made you a GIF, use it however you see fit.
Are you looking forward to watching Anne?
