Natalie Portman Is Done With Marvel Movies (as Far as She Knows)

Jane Foster’s absence in Thor: Ragnarok and the introduction of Tessa Thompson as the female lead has fans wondering whether or not Natalie Portman will be returning to the franchise. Feige explained that her absence in Ragnarok was more because there are only a handful of scenes on Earth, but Portman recently revealed in an interview with WSJ that she’s probably done with Thor altogether.

When asked whether she’d return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Portman casually responded, “I don’t know if maybe they’ll ask for an Avengers 7 or whatever. I have no idea, but as far as I know I’m done. But it was a great thing to be a part of.”

Whether this is an awkward misunderstanding that will be changed (à la Anthony Mackie not realizing he was an Avenger), a lack of interest on Portman’s part (some news outlets reported the actress was unhappy with Marvel’s firing of Patty Jenkins,), or just indicative of what direction the Marvel movies are going towards, is unclear. Additionally, Portman’s definitely busy with a number of projects, from her directing debut A Tale of Love and Darkness, to Jackie, and more.

What do you think about the news? Are you going to miss seeing Jane Foster on screen?
