‘Naps while the country suffers’: Move over ‘Sleepy Joe’, Donald Trump was just seen napping during an Oval Office meeting
Donald Trump rarely misses an opportunity to criticise former United States President Joe Biden; therefore, when he does something similar, no one is going to let it slip by easily. Yes, I am referring to the napping debacle during Trump’s recent Oval Office appearance.
If you are like me, thoroughly consumed by what is happening in US politics due to its sheer theatrics, you would know that what happened this week at the White House was nothing short of soap opera material. I must give Donald Trump and the Republicans credit where it’s due; they ensure their audiences are thoroughly entertained while, of course, sitting on their necks with a knife or, more appropriately, a machete.
However, for those unaware, Trump recently decided it was okay to repeatedly doze off between addresses by medical experts and others discussing drug price cuts. Ironically, this is the same person who has repeatedly accused former President Joe Biden of sleeping between meetings and addresses and has dubbed him a “lazy” President, leading to the coining of the infamous term, “Sleepy Joe.”
Soon after Donald Trump thought it was acceptable to embarrass himself before thousands, social media did its thing and made the incident famous, starting a meme revolution around it. All internet platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), were flooded with pictures of “Sleepy Don.”
One user made a conclusive observation about Trump’s past and present behavior, highlighting:
Calls names, can’t deliver results, and naps while the country suffers, worst at everything.”
Another noted:
The man who promised “energy like no one’s ever seen” can’t stay awake long enough to hear his own healthcare policy explained. Eyes shut. Mouth slack. In other news, Donald Trump’s devoted MAGA base showed their unrelenting support for their leader in chief, as usual. They even went as far as to show sympathy for him, insinuating that he is taking a much-deserved nap after staying awake for hours due to the pressures of his position. They were unable to justify the “pressure” they mentioned, but to give everyone an idea, during his second term as President of the United States, Trump has been accused of spending most of his time out of office and at golf clubs.
